i’ve seen your fires burning

and felt your flames

i’ve witnessed your anger

i’ve seen it attack children, women
chasing us into the dark, the trees

away from your guns and greed

into the dark, where it’s safe

and the coyotes keep watch for strangers

i’ve seen your anger

i’ve witnessed your anger
searing & spreading
threatening me when i’m asleep
unaware of the danger that waits for me & my people

threatening-

but i won’t let your torches threaten me
i won’t let you threaten my people

we have a place here

a meaning here

areason to be

we relate a message of hope
and send out a message of love
understanding
compassion & peace
like flowers in spring
we search for the sun
opening & welcoming change
not allowing in anger & war
hate that harbours only hurt
hate that harbours only more hate
anxious to suffocate & suppress our spirit
